Home Sale Inspection

When preparing to buy or sell a home with a gas or wood fireplace, the standards of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) recommend obtaining a thorough inspection of the chimney and venting systems. The condition of the chimney and fireplace may be a factor in the sale.

As the seller, you want to make sure everything in the home is sound. The last thing anyone wants during a sale is to find out there is some type of damage in an area not inspected resulting in added repairs or worst case, causes the sale to fall through.

As the buyer, be proactive and hire a certified professional. Many home inspectors will recommend in writing that in preparation for the sale of a home, the chimney and fireplace should be inspected and cleaned by a certified fireplace professional prior to closing.

Bottom line: inspections by a certified professional are a wise investment for any home with a fireplace. At a minimum, we will clean and inspect the fireplace to ensure its safety for use. We will also ensure that you have knowledge of any defects or potential issues when negotiating the sale of a home.
